"The sun likes bananas - maybe it's their color", A.A. Gill wrote. But how would that sound like?  Music of a journey, and standing perfectly still. Music of evocative imagery. Music of  mystifying impressions. Music of a constant evolution of form and formlessness. Wuji came about by the desire of three musicians to explore just that.

With open-handed emotionality and a touch of humor, these spontaneous improvisations do not try so much to show us, they invite us to come along. The roadmap is the occasional setting of a mood, of the key, or the choice of instruments, but once the music sets out, there is little telling where it is going. By letting the collective past influences shape their improvisations, Wuji's music sounds at once eccentric as it sounds familiar. There is a sense of drama, a struggle of contrasts, in all of these pieces, but although they breathe unfeigned sincerity, they do not ask us to take them as anything but play.

Both, Ieldra Wings and Cader, bear traits of Ambient music, and they focus strongly on the timbral characteristics of sound and intricate layering. They present engrossing atmospheres which attain at times an almost visual quality, sound scapes which are, by their unpremeditated nature, acoustic meditations.

Ieldra Wings is Wuji's first cd. It consists of thirteen group improvisations which were recorded live on three days in May 2002 at Alea Studio in Providence, USA

"Wu Ji is a term of Chinese Buddhist philosophy meaning "primordial void", and in this spirit, these group improvisations revel in the flow of the moment and are characterized by a sense of anti-analytical bliss in which joy and sorrow, light and shadow find unimpeded expression."   (from the CD)
